Cancellation Policy

Lesson Progression and Rider Approval • All riders are required to begin with at least one private lesson, regardless of prior riding experience. • Progression to group lessons is subject to instructor approval. • There is no set number of private lessons required; advancement is based on a rider's ability to: o Safely control a horse at the walk, jog, and lope o Navigate riding in an arena with other riders • Once a trainer determines that a rider is prepared, they may offer the opportunity to transition into a group lesson. • Lesson options: o ½ hr semi private lessons 2 people MAX of your own group o 1hr semi private 4 people MAX of your own group o ½ hr private lesson o 1 hr private lesson Age Requirements • Riders must be at least 6 years old to take a 30-minute private lesson. • Children age 6 with no prior riding experience must schedule a pony ride first to ensure comfort and readiness. • Children ages 9 & under must take a minimum of one 30-minute private lesson before being considered for a 1-hour private lesson. Further eligibility is at the discretion of the instructor. Safety and Liability • All riders must sign a Liability Waiver before participating in lessons. Helmet Policy • Certified horseback riding helmets are strongly recommended but not required. • Riders must provide their own helmets; they are not supplied by Timmermanns. o Certified riding helmets (e.g., Troxel brand) are available for purchase in our saddle shop ($90–$150). Footwear Requirements • Gym shoes may be worn for the first two lessons only. • After two lessons, Western riding boots with a heel and no thick tread are required. • Closed-toed shoes are mandatory for anyone riding or entering the arena. Clothing Requirements • Riders must wear jeans or long pants. o Jeans are strongly preferred over yoga/stretch pants for grip and saddle comfort. o Shorts are not permitted. Riders arriving without proper attire will not be allowed to ride for safety reasons. Weather Policy Cold Weather • Lessons will be canceled if: o Wind chill drops below 0°F, or o Conditions are deemed unsafe for horses or riders. o Cancellations will be posted on our website and social media. o If uncertain, please call or text: (847) 526-8066. Hot Weather • Lessons will be canceled if: o Temperatures exceed 100°F, or o Heat/humidity levels pose a risk to horses or staff. o Cancellations will be posted on our website and social media. o If uncertain, please call or text: (847) 526-8066.
